How to Get Over a Crush: Ten Sensible Tips

Things You Can do to help the situation

Most everyone has at one time or another had someone that they've had a crush on. And most everyone has had to at some point, either do something to turn that crush into something resembling a relationship, or give
up the crush and move on. This article is for the latter. Following are ten sensible tips on how to get over a crush.

1 - Have a good cry. Once you've made up your mind to put a stop to a crush you've been obsessing about, let yourself mourn the loss. Cry or pout or get angry, whatever it is you need to do to allow yourself to feel the pain of an ending, albeit one-sided relationship.

2 - Get rid of all reminders. Once you've begun the mourning process, collect any and all reminders you have of the person you've been crushing on. You don't have to throw it all out or burn it or anything, just put it somewhere not easily accessible. That way, if at some later date when you are past your feelings and want to reminisce, you'll have all the stuff you kept.

3 - Write a letter for yourself. As a part of the process of getting over a crush, write a letter to the person you've been crushing on. Tell them everything about how you feel and about your reasons for trying to put an end to it. Put down everything you can think of. Then keep the letter in a drawer or some other private place for awhile so that you can add to it, or edit what you've written. Once you're pretty sure you've got it the way you want it. Put it in the drawer again for awhile. Then, when you're ready, pull it out, read it over, and burn it.

4 - Change your routine. To help you to stop thinking about your ex-crush, change your routine around so that your mind will be more occupied with whatever it is you are doing. If you can, and if your crush was very serious, consider moving to another part of town.

5 - Start a new hobby. Also to help you get your mind off your ex-crush, find a new hobby; one that consumes your mind. Also, you might try reading, which is a very good way to get your mind off your thoughts.
